NOMMA was formed in 1958 as a professional trade association serving the American ornamental and craft metals industry and boasts a membership today of nearly 600 across the U.S. and in over 12 countries. Members produce the full spectrum of forge and foundry products including: commercial, architectural, purely artistic, sculptural, ornamental, and light-structural.

Since 2001 NOMMA has launched its Technical Affairs Division and Education Foundation. The Technical Affairs Division provides technical support to members, produces bulletins and technical materials, actively representing the industry on various code, standards, and government committees. The Education Foundation offers publications and sales aids to the industry, publishes a fabrication newsletter, and regularly produces educational videos.

NOMMA is strongly committed to improving excellence in the industry through education and advocacy for the ornamental, architectural, and metalworking community.

babaBABA – British Artist Blacksmiths’ Association

As a result of the vision of a handful of pioneers, and with some inspiration from key talents in America, the British Artist Blacksmiths’ Association was created in 1978 with only 30 charter members.

Today, BABA membership numbers some 600 full members, and a further membership receiving BABA’s magazine by subscription. BABA members are mostly professionals found around the globe, however, also welcome are amateurs, students, organisations, and supporters — all contribute experience, knowledge, and vitality to the pursuit of the craft. BABA is the collected and distilled essence of individual experience which makes blacksmiths similar in character to each other, and different from those whose principle interests lie elsewhere.

The BABA’s cardinal aim is to share the knowledge, experience, and fellowship we feel necessary to maintain both vital connections to antiquity and to forward the art in the present.
